Rory Sutherland was born in Usk, Wales, in November 1965, and was educated at Monmouth School and Cambridge, where he read Classics. It was there in 1988 that he first encountered something called The Internet and something else called a GUI. "I wonder what would happen if you put these two together?" he wondered, uselessly. Happily some of his other ideas have proved more fruitful. He was appointed Creative Director of OgilvyOne in 1997 and Vice Chairman of the Ogilvy Group UK in 2006.
