  1. AOL announces global, integrated advertising platform

  2. AOL LLC has announced a series of changes it is making to position the company as the world’s largest and most effective advertising network, building on its industry-leading Advertising.com network and the recent acquisitions of TACODA, Third Screen Media, Lightningcast and ADTECH. The realignment marks the final stage in AOL’s transition from an access business to a global, ad-supported Web company and underlines the approach it is taking to grow its advertising business and audiences worldwide.



  3. AOL kicks off expansion plans with portal launches in Italy, Spain and Sweden

  4. AOL Europe has launched dedicated portals in Italy, Spain and Sweden. AOL Italy launched on 13 September and this was closely followed by AOL Spain (19 September) and most recently, AOL Sweden on 23 October. These three new region launches will be free to anyone using the Web and offer appeal to advertisers and to consumers, providing email, instant messaging, photo and video services, in addition to exciting tailored content including local sports, entertainment and celebrity news.

    AOL already operates successful portals in Germany, Netherlands, France and Austria. With Western European forecasts for advertising spend set to grow by 25% per year until 2009 (Advertising Forecast 2006 by Zenithoptimedia), these two new region launches mark the start of an ambitious expansion programme, with AOL aiming to cover 95% of the European online market within 18 months.

  5. AOL LLC introduces the first free, one-stop destination for managing and sharing digital media

  6. On 18 September, AOL US announced the availability of a beta version of BlueString, the first free Website that offers a single location for users to easily upload, store, manage, create and share their photos, videos and music via rich multimedia shows. An innovative feature, “String it”, allows friends to collaborate and create a single multimedia show using digital media assets stored at multiple locations across the Web.

    Created by AOL and powered by Xdrive, the first Beta release of BlueString is currently available at http://www.BlueString.com and will launch in the UK in Q1 2008.
